CHIJ St. Nicholas Girls’ and RGS win divisional rhythmic gymnastics titles

Yishun Sports Hall, Thursday, April 16, 2009 - The first day of the Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships witnessed CHIJ St. Nicholas Girls' School claiming the C Division title and sharing the B Division title with Raffles Girls’ School. It was a close finish for the B Division title with both the RGS and St Nicholas gymnasts edging out their nearest competitor by just 1.65 points.

For all participants, they had to impress the judges in only one minute and 30 seconds while manipulating a single apparatus at a time. The C Division competition required gymnasts to handle the ropes, ball and clubs while the B Division had the added challenge of the ribbon category.

In the C Division, Rebecca Sian Heng of CHIJ St Nicholas Girls' took top spot for the individual events. School mate Wong Siow Pin took third while Salikin Narelle Lee of CHIJ Secondary (Toa Payoh) was second.

In the B Division, Jolene Chew Manyi of CHIJ St Nicholas Girls’ was joint-first with Daphne Chia of RGS. Miki Erika Nomura of RGS took third place.
