National swimmer Quah Ting Wen has been offered a place at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) this upcoming Fall 2009 to study and swim, according to the Daily Bruin website.

Ting Wen was offered a Letter of Intent by UCLA swim coach Cyndi Gallagher.

Singapore’s Nicolette Teo is an alumna of UCLA and she had positive things to say of Ting Wen.

"She is young and very talented," Nicolette told the site reporter. "Many coaches have hailed her as one of those raw talents that could be the one (that wins an Olympic medal for Singapore)."

"Her strength lies in focus, her versatility and her untapped potential," coach Gallagher was also quoted as saying.

Ting Wen is currently ranked 48th in the world in the 200m freestyle with her personal best time of 1:59.21.
