SCC, Saturday, August 22, 2009 – Royal Selangor Club and Sinhalese Sports Club smashed their way to a final showdown that is slated to keep the Padang on its toes tomorrow, during the final of the SCC Club Twenty20 tournament.

Sinhalese Sports Club showed the power of the Twenty20 game with a display of ferocious hitting and sensible bowling during its pool victories over Singapore Cricket Association, Penang Sports Club & Melbourne Cricket Club. Stars of the show included Avishka Gunewardene and Dimuth Karunaratne who both bludgeoned some memorable sixes and fours during the three games to top their group.

In the other group Royal Selangor Club came out on top with wins over Singapore Cricket Club, Kowloon Cricket Club and Madras Cricket Club. Rohan Selvaratnam was the stand out performer with both bat and ball and will lead Royal Selangor Club into the final on Sunday.

Michael Grice, SCC Tournament Director was delighted with the standard of the cricket.

“Events like this just show how the standard of cricket has increased in the region and it's a great feeling to have such quality teams here fighting it out with the Singapore Cricket Association and SCC teams.”

The final takes place Sunday at 3.45pm. Before that there will be finals of the Bowl, Plate & Shield competitions, all starting at 7.45am. All games are free to the public.
