Boon, if you’re going to make statements make sure you get them right…
Bedok finished last in every grade and only won one or two games for the whole season between their three teams.
Wanderers won Premiership Grade after only winning 3 or 4 games all year. Yes they won the Prem Cup but there are other reasons for this I wont go into here.
Truth is this Singapore Team is a team off young LOCALLY BORN and RAISED kids…while this is a great initiative for the development of rugby its going to take them time to get up to a quality level….There are many more players (EXPATS) in Singapore who qualify to play for the team but the SRU have decided to used young LOCAL BORN kids only. I am an expat and think its great the SG kids are getting a run but again, its going to take them a few years to get up to speed.
im very proud to say that winning Thailand is a big achievement for this young squad!
I think in any new rugby series there will always be some teams to get big score lines go against them, just look at Italy in the 6 nations. It took them several seasons to become competitive with the other teams. Hopefully this will happen in the Asian Sevens Series.
no players from bedok kings and wanderers, any reason why? thought these clubs dominated singapore rugby this year?
Good effort in beating Thailand though! Thailand are our tradtional 7s rivals, and to beat them at any level is very good!
Remarkable comeback by India against Singapore on the final day. I guess it probably boiled down to fitness/conditioning. Perhaps due the non-availability of first choice players?
I remember the time when Singapore performed pretty well on the international stage, be it on the 7s or 15s front. I hope the fire still burns maybe they could have psych sessions cos it’s not only physical when it comes to sports.
