Xianghe, China September 21, 2009 – Singapore kicked off their AFC U-16 Championship 2010 qualifier Group E encounter with a confident 4-0 win over Macau at the NFTC Stadium in Xianghe, China.

First half goals from Muhammad Raushyan and Shannon Stephen and two late strikes from Muhammad Nur Ridho and Nicholas Marc Cher in the second half gave the start that coach K Balagumaran was looking for.

"We played well. We went out and achieved our objective of getting goals and winning our opening game.

"Macau were very defensive and compact. They usually had 11 players behind the ball. We were pushing to get the first goal. We hit the upright twice in the first half. Our finishing could be better but we aim to improve in the next game against Guam," said Balagumaran.

With Tajeli Bin Salamat marshalling the defence well, Muhammad Zakir Bin Samsudin bossing the midfield and striker Muhammad Raushyan Bin Mazlan being a constant menace to opposing defenders, Singapore looks eager to take on Guam in their next match.

Guam, who lost their opening game 3-2 to Hong Kong, will take on Singapore at the NFTC Stadium on Wednesday, 23 September.
