Republic Polytechnic, Monday, July 19, 2010 — The Singapore Polytechnic (SP) boys defeated Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP) 6-5 for their first win of the 2010 Polytechnic-Institute of Technical education (POL-ITE) Floorball Championship.
The win improved the SP win-loss record to 1-3 while NP fall to 0-4.
Referring to the closely contested match, SP team captain Muhammad Ammar Bin Zaini said: “It was not superb but it was good for the first win.”
Despite a slow start, the 1st period saw much dominance from SP, with many valiant attempts at goal from R Suria. But NP put up a solid defense and at the end of the first period, the score was still tied at 0-0.
The 2nd period kicked off five minutes later at an accelerated pace. Within three seconds, SP led 1-0 with Muhammad Alif Bin Mohammad Nor netting a goal from half-court.
Spurred on by that goal, SP started displaying more aggression and this culminated in the 20th minute when Nelson Goh of NP was taken down violently by Puvinthan s/o Santhan of SP.
SP played without relenting and continued attacking with Shawn Tan and Suria in the lead. However, in the 22nd minute, NP broke through their defense and Ahmad Fattah Bin Salim Low scored a equalizer.
But the 1-1 score did not last and NP scored again in the 25th and 31st minute with Jovyn Low and Muhammad Fazri respectively. With SP trailing by two 1-3, their chances appeared bleak but that did not mar the team’s spirit or that of their supporters.
Towards the last minutes of the 2nd period, SP fought back with a goal by Puvinthan to trail 2-3.
The 3rd period was no less exciting than the first two. R. Suria of SP displayed a spectacular attempt at goal within a minute after opening. Although it bounced off the post, Suria soldiered on and in the 41st minute gave the game its sixth goal, bringing the score to 3-3.
Minutes later, Muhd Luthafiz of NP scored a goal just split seconds after both teams had called for a time out, rendering what would have been a fourth NP goal void.
With the score still tied at 3-3, both teams scored within seconds of each other through Chng Zhen Wei for SP, while Jovyn Low and Shaddan Bin Hassim added two more for NP to take a 5-4 lead.

Maybe it’ll be better if you put the ‘storyline’ of the match between NP and SP girls rather than just posting pictures? The public wants to know how the match went anyway.
