With Round One of the National B and C Division Girls Championships having ended recently, the groupings for the Top 8 are out.
Notably, the biggest casualties in the B Division were the 2009 B Division runners-up Ngee Ann Secondary, and third runner-up Bukit Panjang Government High, who both failed to make it to the quarter-finals.
Cedar Girls’ Secondary, Dunman Secondary, Presbyterian High, St. Hilda's Secondary, Shuqun Secondary, Nanyang Girls' High, Jurong Secondary and Xinmin Secondary are the eight who have secured a spot in the next round in the B Division.

In the C Division, missing from the Top 8 are last year's second and third runners-up, Shuqun Secondary and Fairfield Methodist. Shuqun did not make it past the zonal rounds this year, whereas Fairfield dropped out after Round One.
Anderson Secondary, Bukit Panjang Government High, Cedar Girls’ Secondary, Chung Cheng High (Yishun), Dunman Secondary, Hua Yi Secondary, Nanyang Girls' High and Ngee Ann Secondary made it to the second round in the C Division.

B Division Girls
Group A
Drawn in Group A were North Zone champions Xinmin Secondary, East Zone runners-up Ngee Ann Secondary, West Zone second runners-up Shuqun Secondary, and East Zone third runners-up, Yuying Secondary.
Xinmin took all six points, winning all their three matches. It was a three-way battle between the other three schools as all three had similar win-loss records.
Shuqun, who had lost to Yuying 2-0 (25-14, 25-21) earlier, needed to beat Ngee Ann convincingly in their last match. A win for Ngee Ann would have sent them through to the next round alongside Xinmin. But it was Shuqun who prevailed, beating Ngee Ann 2-0 (25-15, 25-21) to send the 2009 runners-up crashing out.

Group B
In Group B, West Zone champions Jurong Secondary and North Zone runners-up Presbyterian High had all won their matches against South Zone second runners-up Fairfield Secondary, and East Zone third runners-up Dunman High School.
It was Presbyterian High who triumphed in the last match when they dispatched Jurong 2-0 (25-22, 25-19) to top the group.

Group C
By far the easiest group among the four, East Zone champions St. Hilda's Secondary and West Zone runners-up Nanyang Girls' High, were drawn against North Zone second runners-up Sembawang Secondary, and South Zone third runners-up Queensway Secondary.
St Hilda's and Nanyang Girls' had no problems seeing off Queensway, but Sembawang Secondary gave both teams a scare when they pushed St Hilda's to three sets before going down 1-2 (25-22, 18-25, 25-23), and put up a hard fight against Nanyang Girls' before conceding 2-0 (27-25, 25-21).
Nanyang Girls' overcame St. Hilda's 2-0 (25-18, 25-17) in their last match to top Group C.

Group D
Group D was probably the toughest group in the draw alongside Group A. South Zone champions Cedar Girls’, East Zone runners-up Dunman Secondary, West Zone second runners-up Bukit Panjang Government High, and North Zone third runners-up Woodlands Ring Secondary were all drawn together in this "Group of Death".
While it had seemed earlier that it would be a three-way fight between Cedar, Dunman and Bukit Panjang, Woodlands Ring briefly gave Dunman a scare in their match, and beat Bukit Panjang 2-1 (24-26, 25-22, 25-22) in their last match.
Though Cedar and Dunman did not have easy matches, they pulled through to set up a top-of-the-table clash between themselves. Dunman overcame Cedar 2-1 (25-16, 16-25, 25-18) to emerge top of Group D.

C Division Girls
Group A
East Zone champions Dunman Secondary, South Zone runners-up Fairfield Methodist were drawn together with West Zone second runners-up Bukit Panjang Goverment High, and South Zone third runners-up Presbyterian High.
It was a fight between Bukit Panjang and Fairfield for a spot in the Top 8 as both had one win, one loss to their name. Whoever won their last group match would earn themselves a place alongside Dunman Secondary. However, Fairfield fell to Dunman 2-0, and Bukit Panjang progressed to the next round after a decisive 2-0 (25-13, 25-9) win over Presbyterian High.
Group B
Drawn in Group B were North Zone champions Anderson Secondary, East Zone runners-up Ngee Ann Secondary, South Zone second runners-up Yuying Secondary and West Zone third runners-up Jurong Secondary.
Anderson and Ngee Ann won their matches before meeting each other in a top-of-the-table clash, with Anderson emerging top of the group after beating the latter 2-1 (25-15, 18-25, 25-12).
Yuying had earlier gave Ngee Ann a tough match when they pushed them to three sets before going down 2-1 (25-22, 19-25, 25-11). However, they finished in fourth place after losing to Jurong Secondary 2-0 (25-21, 25-22).
Group C
West Zone champions Nanyang Girls' High and North Zone runners-up Chung Cheng High (Yishun) were drawn against East Zone second runners-up St. Hilda's Secondary, and South Zone third runners-up Queensway Secondary.
St. Hilda's, having lost to Chung Cheng High (Yishun) 2-1 (22-25, 25-13, 25-5), left Nanyang Girls' to fight it out with Chung Cheng for the top spot in Group C. It came down to their final match where Nanyang Girls' overcame Chung Cheng 2-0 (25-23, 25-15).

Group D
Group D saw South Zone champions Cedar Girls' drawn with West Zone runners-up Hua Yi Secondary, North Zone second runners-up Xinmin Secondary and East Zone third runners-up Dunman High.
The reigning C Division champions Cedar Girls' overcame some early hiccups to take all six points on offer. The biggest upset came when traditional powerhouse Xinmin Secondary were knocked out by Hua Yi 2-1 (23-25, 25-22, 25-21).
Despite Xinmin overcoming Dunman High 2-1 (25-12, 22-25, 25-19), they failed to qualify for the next round alongside Dunman High.
