Monday, June 22, 2009 – Hong Kong was supposed to be playing their first Asian Youth Games (AYG) football preliminary match against Saudi Arabia this afternoon, but the match has been postponed till further notice as three Hong Kong football players were confirmed to be infected with Influenza A (H1N1).

All other Group D matches involving Hong Kong football team will also be postponed till further notice.

It is hard to imagine how the Games will continue to be run on schedule now with 2 Groups in the AYG football preliminaries facing postponement of matches.

Over the weekend, a Filipino football player was also warded after testing positive with H1N1. As a result, their opening match of Group A on Saturday was also postponed till further notice. The entire Philippines football team, 2 liaison officers and a doctor were also quarantined at Aloha Resorts.

The total number of H1N1 cases in Singapore is reported to have escalated to 142 at press time.
